Over 140 culinary-themed events are taking place in Waterford this weekend, as part of what organisers have described as a celebration of people, place and passion.<\/p>\n

The Waterford Festival of Food, which runs from today until Sunday, brings together chefs, producers, growers and food-lovers for a series of dining experiences, markets, tastings, talks and family activities.<\/p>\n

Formerly known as the West Waterford Festival of Food, the event has grown in popularity down through the years.<\/p>\n

The 17th edition of the festival will this year see the expansion of the traditional Dungarvan programme into Waterford city for the first time.<\/p>\n

\nThousands of people gather on Davitt’s Quay in the heart of Dungarvan for the annual Waterford Festival of Food<\/p>\n

The several city-based events will include restaurant trails, a food symposium in collaboration with South East Technological University, and chefs from the renowned Ashford Castle serving up a ‘dining experience’ at the House of Waterford Crystal.<\/p>\n

Not forgetting the origins of the festival, the weekend will also feature 150 market stalls showcasing local produce and craft from several parts of the county.<\/p>\n

The organisers have said this year’s festival will see “myriad dining events in memorable settings, alongside many family events designed to inspire young food lovers.”<\/p>\n

Anita Geoghegan, Chairperson of Waterford Festival of Food, has said she believes this year’s three-day event will offer something for everyone.<\/p>\n

\nThe festival will bring together chefs, producers, growers and food-lovers for a number of events<\/p>\n

“Visitors can enjoy tours, cruises, bus excursions, foraging and wellness experiences, an afternoon tea dance, children’s bake-off and hands-on learning opportunities,” Ms Geoghegan said.<\/p>\n

“There is a stellar line-up of speakers and demonstrations, and a strong focus on health and wellness.<\/p>\n

“A lively programme of music and entertainment completes what promises to be a truly special weekend.<\/p>\n

“It is a celebration of place, people and passion, and a wonderful example of what can be achieved when a community works together with a shared vision.”<\/p>\n
