Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather added that there is a “small chance” of some rain showers and thundery showers on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Met Eireann also predicts some small showers. Mr O’Reilly reminded people to enjoy the good weather while we have it, but not to forget the sunscreen.

He said: “We do have some of those showers that are going to kick off this evening and tonight and move up from the south and some of them could be thundary but they will be localised. They will clear away Saturday.”

“Now the best of the sunshine on Saturday is going to be in the eastern half of the country especially in the afternoon and that’s where the highest temperatures are going be so if you’ve been in the east and that east wind has been annoying you the good news is that wind is going to go away and warmest temperatures tomorrow could actually be in Dublin.”

“Further west there will be more cloud and it will feel cooler I’m afraid. On Sunday though there will also be some cloud but there will some sunny spells. There’s only a small chance of a shower Saturday evening and Sunday so a very small chance and then the fine weather continues into next week so don’t forget to sunscreen and enjoy it.”

Here is Met Eireann’s weekend forecast:

Friday 24 April

The evening will be mostly dry and bright across the country, though cloudier conditions in the southwest will bring a few heavy showers. These showers are expected to spread across Munster, Connacht, and the midlands overnight, while Ulster and north Leinster remain dry with clear spells. Temperatures will be quite cold in the north, falling to between 1 and 4 degrees, but will remain milder elsewhere ranging from 6 to 10 degrees. Winds will transition from light to moderate east-southeasterly to light variable breezes by nightfall.

Saturday 25 April

The day is forecast to be predominantly dry with only isolated showers, though it will be cloudier than previous days with the most consistent sunshine occurring in the eastern half of the country. A notable temperature contrast is expected, with highs reaching 13 degrees in the west and up to 20 degrees in the east under light variable breezes. Moving into Saturday night, conditions will stay mainly dry with a mix of cloud and clear spells, although some showers may affect parts of Ulster. Overnight lows will hold between 5 and 9 degrees.

Sunday 26 April

Settled weather continues as high pressure dominates, resulting in a mainly dry day featuring a fair amount of cloud and scattered sunny spells. Some localized showers may develop in Leinster and Ulster during the afternoon and evening hours. Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 18 degrees, with the warmest conditions expected in the east. Light variable breezes will persist throughout the day, followed by a dry night with clear spells and temperatures dipping to between 5 and 9 degrees.

Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live? Making us your preferred source on Google means you’ll get more of our exclusives, top stories and must-read content straight away.
