{"id":416168,"date":"2026-04-25T02:03:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T02:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/416168\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T02:03:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T02:03:14","slug":"man-charged-after-two-gardai-hospitalised-following-assaults-at-donegal-council-offices-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/416168\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged after two garda\u00ed hospitalised following assaults at Donegal council offices \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man has appeared in court after two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">garda\u00ed<\/a> were hospitalised following an incident at a council office in Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\/\">Donegal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Abdou Abouzid was charged with a number of incidents following an altercation at Donegal County Council Public Services Centre in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/letterkenny\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/letterkenny\"> Letterkenny<\/a> on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed were called to the scene following an incident with staff at the premises just before 3pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Two garda\u00ed were injured and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital following injuries sustained during the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested at the scene and taken to Letterkenny Garda station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The woman was released and is expected to appear at Letterkenny District Court on Monday next.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man, 35-year-old Abdou Abouzid, was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and appeared in court on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He was charged with assaulting Garda Daniel Murphy and Garda Lee Scanlon;
