in September of last year, is set to feature in the debut episode of Cara sa Cheol.

The six-parter explores the creative spark that occurs when musicians from different backgrounds, cultures, and generations are brought together to collaborate on original music.

Speaking to Live95’s Lauren Beirne, God Knows explained that while he hails from Shannon in County Clare, Limerick is the place that shaped his career.

“Limerick is the city that put me on”, he said, “so yeah, shout out Limerick, every single day”.

The upcoming episode follows a collaboration between God Knows and electronic-trad musician Caoimhín.

Part of the show takes the artists into the heart of Limerick, with scenes at the skate park on Dock Road, and in Ballyagran, County Limerick, where the rapper’s parents own St Gobnait’s Nursing Home.

God Knows says the experience allowed him to showcase the importance of his community and heritage while embracing the Irish language via the TG4 production.

The Zimbabwean-Irish rapper says he was delighted to be surrounded by the production team, who were speaking ás Gaeilge:

“It’s really lovely to be around the Irish language and for people to be celebrating it freely, it means a lot to me because I know what it is like to have that language taken away from you, you know, when we think about the history, we share that kindred spirit because Zimbabwe was also a colony”.

He continued saying, “so to reclaim the language on screen and introduce it to a first-generation immigrant like myself shows the love of language…I hope that it brings us together and reminds us that we agree more than we disagree”.

“We do care about each other, and we do want to see each other win because that’s the beauty of life”.

The collaboration has resulted in a new track titled ‘Lean Do Mhian’, which the artists are currently putting the finishing touches on for a future release.

The first episode of ‘Cara sa Cheol’
