For the second year in a row, Google is scheduling a dedicated podcast before the actual start of I\/O 2026, and they are setting expectations incredibly high.<\/p>\n According to a recently spotted (and subsequently removed) YouTube teaser reported by 9to5Google<\/a>, Google will be hosting \u201cThe Android Show | I\/O Edition\u201d exactly one week early on Tuesday, May 12 at 10 a.m. PT.<\/p>\n The countdown is on<\/p>\n While the video itself has been pulled, the description contained a massive teaser: \u201cThis is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet. Tune in\u2026 and be the first to take a look at what the future holds.\u201d<\/p>\n By holding this show a week before the main event, Google is clearly splitting the \u201cWhat\u2019s New\u201d into two distinct categories: consumer-facing features for the public on May 12, and technical deep-dives for developers during the I\/O keynote on May 19.<\/p>\n \nFeatured Videos<\/p>\n Why I\u2019m hopeful for some answers about Project Aluminium<\/p>\n The phrase \u201cone of the biggest years for Android yet\u201d is a bold claim, even for Google. If Google is truly preparing for its most transformative Android year ever, May 12 would be the perfect moment to introduce the world to a unified, Android-powered desktop operating system.<\/p>\n Whether we see a full demo of Aluminium OS<\/a> running on upcoming hardware like the Lenovo Sapphire<\/a> or just the first official confirmation of the project, or even just an official name for the entire thing; May 12 is now officially the most important date on the calendar for the ChromeOS community.
