A south Dublin gastropub was named the best local restaurant in Ireland this week.<\/p>\n
The Golden Ball in Kilternan<\/a> picked up the prestigious award at the YesChef Awards in Dundalk on Tuesday. The beloved pub, which previously operated as a Farmer Browns, was restored to its original name after being taken over in the summer of 2024 by the Lawlor family, who are also the proprietors of the nearby Enniskerry Inn – and publican Edel Lawlor said the award was a fitting tribute to their new locals.<\/p>\n She said “We’ve put a lot of work into the place, fixing it up and bringing it back to life. The pub has always meant a lot around here, and from day one we’ve wanted it to feel like somewhere you can drop in for a good meal, a pint, or just a chat.<\/p>\n “Kilternan is growing fast and we’re so glad to be part of it. The awards cover restaurants right across Ireland, so just being included meant a lot, never mind walking away with the win.<\/p>\n “It’s a big moment for us, but really it comes down to the people around us.
