Limerick so nearly pulled off an incredible victory having played the last 20 minutes with 14 men after Cian Lynch was dismissed on a straight red for striking. They trailed by a point at the time after Alan Connolly had scored Cork\u2019s second goal two minutes earlier, but with the extra man Cork never led by more than three points. With typical grit and mental fortitude Limerick stayed in the game and took the lead again after 68 minutes when a Diarmaid Byrnes free squirmed past Patrick Collins and into the Cork net.
