Denis Walsh gives his reaction to Cork\u2019s victory over Limerick at home: <\/p>\n

“Denis FT: After a match of excruciating tension Cork scored the last three points to win by two, 2-22 to 1-23. Limerick so nearly pulled off an incredible victory having played the last 20 minutes with 14 men after Cian Lynch was dismissed on a straight red for striking. They trailed by a point at the time after Alan Connolly had scored Cork\u2019s second goal two minutes earlier, but with the extra man Cork never led by more than three points. With typical grit and mental fortitude Limerick stayed in the game and took the lead again after 68 minutes when a Diarmaid Byrnes free squirmed past Patrick Collins and into the Cork net. Cork though replied with the last three scores of the game to go top of the table.”<\/p>\n

Galway have made a strong start at home to Offaly in Leinster hurling, with Conor Whelan notching three point so far. 18 Mins: Galway 0-8 Offaly 0-4<\/p>\n

And of course, there\u2019s the massive Connacht clash between Mayo and Roscommon at 4pm. The winner will play Galway in the provincial final. Kobe McDonald looks set to make his debut in championship for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Attention turns now to Waterford-Tipperary in Walsh Park (4pm). Malachy Clerkin is there for this huge clash in Munster:<\/p>\n

Donegal-Down has thrown in in Letterkenny with an early miss by Ryan McHugh the only action. 2 Mins: Donegal 0-0 Down 0-0<\/p>\n

44 Mins: Cathal O\u2019Neill misses a chance he should really have scored. Shane Barrett makes a super solo run and finds Buckley for a score. Cork 1-14 Limerick 0-18<\/p>\n

40 Mins: Shane O\u2019Brien has an effort that just tails wide. Fitzgibbon makes a superb catch from the resulting puckout and is fouled. Connolly pops the free over. Cork 1-13 Limerick 0-18<\/p>\n

38 Mins: What a save from Patrick Collins! Hegarty burst a hole through the Cork defence and passed to Casey when he might have shot. The corner-forward\u2019s effort is blocked down well. Aidan O\u2019Connor pops the 65\u2032 over. Cork 1-12 Limerick 0-18<\/p>\n

36 Mins: Shane Barrett gets the first score of the half, following an error in the Limerick defence. Then Nickie Quaid has to make an amazing save from Brian Hayes a moment later. At the other end, Peter Casey gets a score. Cork 1-12 Limerick 0-17<\/p>\n

\u201cLimerick lead Cork by two points at half time after a terrific first half in P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh. Just like in the league final Limerick raced into a commanding lead and were 0-10 to 0-3 in front after just 17 minutes. But a Shane Barrett goal after 21 minutes changed the momentum of the game and Cork scored 1-4 without reply. It has been nip and tuck since then with Limerick getting the last two points of the half to lead by 0-16 to 1-11 at the break.”<\/p>\n

33 Mins: Eoin Downey loses a ball poorly, and Aidan O\u2019Connor gets in for a goal chance. He goes for the point, but Rob Downey digs his brother out with a last-minute intervention. 31 Mins: William Buckley wins a bit of a soft free and Connolly makes no mistake to bring it to a draw game. Cork 1-10 Limerick 0-13<\/p>\n

30 Mins: Walsh makes up for that error by winning a free brilliantly. His team mates surround him to encourage the young man, but Connolly ends up missing the free. Cork 1-9 Limerick 0-13<\/p>\n

28 Mins: Cork get on top of the breaking ball, then work it to the shooter, Fitzgibbon. He drives another one over from way out on the wing. A bizarre incident sees Barry Walsh skin Byrnes, but then lose his footing and Limerick bring it up the other end for a score. Cork 1-9 Limerick 0-13<\/p>\n

26 Mins: Kyle Hayes executes a brilliant turnover of Darragh Fitzgibbon. Aidan O\u2019Connor pops the resulting free over. Darragh Fitzgibbon taps a line ball up the wing, Hayes dummies it and is tripped, giving Connolly a handy free which he scores. Cork 1-8 Limerick 0-12<\/p>\n

24 Mins: Mike Casey does well to stand up Hayes and force a wide. Cork are on top of the puckouts now, Rob Downey picking one out of the sky. Then Buckley came out the field to level matters. Hegarty responds well with a point all of his own making. Cork 1-7 Limerick 0-11<\/p>\n

8 Mins: Byrnes finds O\u2019Brien up front with a great pass, who lays it off for Cathal O\u2019Neill to score. This is the fourth meeting of Cork and Limerick this year, stretching back to a Munster league game in January; Limerick have won the other three. After Aaron Gillane\u2019s defection during the week there are no further changes to the Limerick team that won the league final. Cork are unchanged from the team that beat Tipperary last Sunday.”<\/p>\n

Munster hurling continues to provide the big stories early on, as Limerick and Cork renew their rivalry in P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh (2pm), and All-Ireland champions Tipperary travel to Waterford (4pm) with both sides badly needing a win to boost their chances of progressing. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s a do-or-die clash for Down in Ulster football, as they could miss out on Sam Maguire football if they fail to beat Division 1 league winners Donegal (3pm). Meanwhile, the biggest clash in football sees Mayo host Roscommon in the Connacht semi-final at 4pm.<\/p>\n
