Rodrigo is gearing up to share her third studio album \u2018You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love<\/a>\u2019, which is set to arrive via Geffen on June 12 \u2013 pre-order\/pre-save your copy\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So far, she\u2019s shared the lead single \u2018Drop Dead\u2019 <\/a>and debuted it live during her surprise appearance in the middle of Addison Rae\u2019s set at Coachella<\/a>.\u00a0Now, some fans have had a taste of the album\u2019s next single, which appears to feature Weyes Blood.<\/p>\n

The singer held an intimate, invite-only show at LA\u2019s The Echo on Friday night (March 25) where phones were banned. During the gig, she brought out Weyes Blood to debut the new track, which she had previously described as<\/a> \u201ckaraokable if you\u2019re sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans in attendance reportedly said the song was a \u201cheartbreaking ballad\u201d that sees Rodrigo \u201cyearning and begging someone to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Drop Dead\u2019 notably features a reference to The Cure<\/a>, with Rodrigo singing: \u201cYou know all the words to \u2018Just Like Heaven\u2019\/ And I know why he wrote them now that you\u2019re standing right here\u201d.<\/p>\n

It comes after\u00a0she brought out Robert Smith during her headline set at Glastonbury last summer<\/a>, performing \u2018Friday I\u2019m In Love\u2019 and \u2018Just Like Heaven\u2019.\u00a0Rodrigo then released the duets with Smith as part of her \u2018Live From Glastonbury 2025\u2019 album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s since revealed she failed to play the track to Smith when she had the chance<\/a>. In a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Rodrigo said: \u201cOh my god, I actually don\u2019t know if I played it for him, he might hear it today. I played him a bunch of other songs on the album, I don\u2019t know why I didn\u2019t think to play this one for him though I should.\u201d<\/p>\n

The album announcement came after weeks of speculation, after\u00a0cryptic pink album teasers cropped up around Los Angeles and London<\/a>. In a recent interview with\u00a0British Vogue<\/a>, the record was described as Rodrigo at her \u201cmost experimental\u201d, with one track being labelled as \u201csmooth, trippy soft rock\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo herself told the publication that the album consists\u00a0of \u201csad love songs\u201d,\u00a0adding: \u201cI\u00a0realised\u00a0all my\u00a0favourite\u00a0romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0found a lot of inspiration from being in London,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019ve\u00a0spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0had here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place. When you\u2019re experiencing that you\u2019re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you\u2019re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!\u201d<\/p>\n
