{"id":418852,"date":"2026-04-26T19:04:12","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T19:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/418852\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T19:04:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T19:04:12","slug":"road-crashes-claim-a-third-life-in-northern-ireland-over-the-weekend-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/418852\/","title":{"rendered":"Road crashes claim a third life in Northern Ireland over the weekend \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One person has died following a single vehicle crash in Co Tyrone, bringing the total of lives lost on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/\">Northern Ireland<\/a> roads this weekend to three.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said the crash took place in the Caledon area on Saturday evening. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/tags\/psni\/\">PSNI <\/a>officers received a report of a van crashing on the Derrycourtney Road shortly after 11pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Emergency services attended, however one person was pronounced dead at the scene. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/explosion-reported-outside-police-station-in-dunmurry-5E6D5MHU5FBNFFO7WWDUSV74DQ\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Dunmurry: Explosive device outside PSNI station &#x2018;was sent sent to kill officers&#x2019;\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/5HIE2DDGWFDR7CL6Z76QA3IIMU.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/northern-ireland\/two-dead-after-car-and-motorcycle-collide-PHNZWALMYVA2VFX6UGOAC4S4DQ\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Two dead after car and motorcycle collide\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/MC4KUNYIHRAP7P4TGJHYICPBBU.jpeg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Derrycourtney Road, which was closed overnight, has since reopened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One person has been arrested. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A PSNI spokesperson said: \u201cPolice received a report shortly after 11pm on Saturday of a collision involving a van in the Derrycourtney Road area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOfficers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended, however, sadly one person was pronounced deceased at the scene. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOne arrest has been made and our enquiries are continuing.
