Who are the seeded teams for the All-Ireland series?<\/p>\n
The round robin stage has been removed from this year’s All-Ireland series, with a new knockout format introduced in its place. However, it is a little bit more complicated than just straight knockout.<\/p>\n
The eight provincial finalists will face off against the other eight Sam Maguire teams in the first round.<\/p>\n
After reaching provincial finals, here are the four confirmed seeded teams so far:<\/p>\n
Kerry
\nCork
\nGalway
\nRoscommon<\/p>\n
After being eliminated from their provincial championships, the following teams are guaranteed to be unseeded in the draw.<\/p>\n
Donegal
\nMayo
\nMeath
\nTyrone<\/p>\n
As a result, those four counties would face provincial finalists in the first round of the All-Ireland series.<\/p>\n
We will know the full list of seeded and unseeded teams after the last set of provincial semi-finals take place on the weekend of May 2nd\/3rd.<\/p>\n

What is the format of this year’s All-Ireland series?<\/p>\n
Round 1 of the Sam Maguire will see the eight provincial finalists take on the eight other teams that have qualified for the competition by via their finishing position in the league (or as Tailteann Cup winners in the form of Kildare if they do not reach the Leinster final).<\/p>\n
Round 2A will see the winners of each Round 1 game face off, with the victors of those games automatically qualifying for the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n
Round 2B features eight losers from Round 1 , who will face each other. The losers of those games are eliminated from the championship.<\/p>\n
Round 3 sees the losers of Round 2A and winners of Round 2B play each other for the four remaining quarter-finals places. The championship continues as normal from the quarter-finals stage.<\/p>\n
In short, you will need to win two games to reach the All-Ireland quarter-finals. Here is a visual representation of the format.<\/p>\n
