{"id":419727,"date":"2026-04-27T09:30:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T09:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/419727\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T09:30:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T09:30:10","slug":"limerick-third-level-college-backs-annual-education-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/419727\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick third level college backs annual education showcase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LIMERICK&#8217;S Mary Immaculate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/232\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">College<\/a> has backed a national educational conference.<\/p>\n<p>Schools backed by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (ETB) and educational partners gathered in Naas for the annual\u00a0Realising Inclusive Special Education, or &#8216;Rise&#8217; showcase.<\/p>\n<p>It highlighted how inclusive practice is already improving learning, belonging and engagement for young people across the system.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) in partnership with Mary Immaculate College, whose main campus is located in South Circular Road in Limerick, the Rise strategy supports schools to plan inclusively, collaborate within and across schools, and use resources more effectively for the benefit of all students.<\/p>\n<p>Throwback Thursday:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/pictures---videos\/2066005\/throwback-thursday-pictures-from-the-limerick-leader-archives.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> Pictures from the Limerick Leader archives<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Schools at the showcase demonstrated clearer whole\u2011school planning, smoother student transitions and stronger teamwork, reflecting a shift from isolated supports to shared responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Now in over 220 post\u2011primary schools nationwide, Rise is increasingly recognised as a practical model for system integration.<\/p>\n<p>Limerick native Dr Johanna Fitzgerald, ETBI&#8217;s national inclusion, special education and research co-ordinator, plus Rise lead said the initiative is a celebration of belonging, progress and partnership across school communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Rise provides an architecture for self\u2011improving schools. It shows what is possible when policy ambition is matched with sustained support for implementation. The showcase also reflected the national momentum following Minister Naughton\u2019s and Minister Moynihan\u2019s announcement on enhanced resources to schools to continue providing inclusive special class provision.
