\n\tEXCLUSIVE: After working together on The Beekeeper and A Working Man, David Ayer<\/a> and Jason Statham<\/a> are reteaming on action-thriller\u00a0John Doe<\/a>, with Ayer directing from a script by blockbuster screenwriter Zak Penn (Ready Player One, The Avengers). <\/p>\n

\n\tStatham is set to play the Man With No Name in the film, which will chart the story \u201cof a man with no memory, no past, and no name \u2014 and only one face he can\u2019t forget: Eliza. As fragments of his identity return, he discovers he was trained for a mission still in motion and is being hunted by the very people who sent him. With enemies closing in, John must choose between finishing what he started\u2026 or protecting the one thing that makes him feel human: love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMiramax is producing and financing,\u00a0with Statham producing via\u00a0Punch Palace Productions.\u00a0Paul Schiff and Zak Penn are also producing. <\/p>\n

\n\tBlack Bear will introduce the film to international buyers at the upcoming Cannes<\/a> market where it\u2019ll be a strong commercial option thanks to the track records of the creatives and backers. Production is being lined up to begin in September 2026. <\/p>\n

\n\tMiramax and Black Bear have had recent success with the filmmaker-star duo, having produced\u00a0The Beekeeper\u00a0($163M WW) and\u00a0A Working Man ($89M), respectively. <\/p>\n

\n\tFast & Furious star Statham remains a box office pull. His films have grossed more than $8.5BN at the box office. Upcoming films include multiple Black Bear productions, including Guy Ritchie\u2019s\u00a0Viva La Madness, also starring Ben Foster, Jason Isaacs, and Camila Mendes, and\u00a0Jason Statham Stole My Bike, the meta-action-comedy from David Leitch. He is also collaborating with Miramax on\u00a0The Beekeeper 2, alongside Jeremy Irons and Pom Klementieff.<\/p>\n

\n\tAyer is best known for Suicide Squad, Fury, The Beekeeper, and\u00a0A Working Man and upcoming has Paramount action-adventure film\u00a0Heart of the Beast with Brad Pitt and J.K. Simmons and is working on the series\u00a0American Blue\u00a0with HBO Max and WBTV.<\/p>\n

\n\tPenn served as a writer on three Academy Award-nominated blockbusters: Joss Whedon\u2019s\u00a0The Avengers, Steven Spielberg\u2019s\u00a0Ready Player One, and Shawn Levy\u2019s\u00a0Free Guy. He also wrote or co-wrote films including The Incredible Hulk,\u00a0X2: X-Men United\u00a0and\u00a0X-Men: The Last Stand,\u00a0Elektra,\u00a0Behind Enemy Lines, and\u00a0Inspector Gadget.<\/p>\n

\n\tSchiff\u2019s credits include\u00a0Rushmore,\u00a0Mona Lisa Smile, My Cousin Vinnie,\u00a0and\u00a0How It Ends, as well as the television series\u00a0Super Pumped.\u00a0<\/p>\n
