Everything about Grace Jones<\/a> was effortlessly, impossibly unique, including her preferred measures for drug consumption.<\/p>\n She was punk before the world even heard the term<\/a>. Following Jones\u2019 high-profile modelling career early in the 1970s, a fiercely original aesthetic emerged as she became drawn into disco\u2019s orbit, cutting a striking impression of angular beauty and androgynous allure, reflecting the curious selection of material on her records. A little modern chanson and a dash of Broadway standards were eclectically scooped and whipped together with the day\u2019s disco and R&B for a befittingly confounding presence in the charts.<\/p>\n Before her detour into new wave pop and a 1980s Hollywood career, Jones was one of the few members of the beautiful people afforded a guaranteed entry into Studio 54\u2019s glittering exclusivity<\/a>. Amid such wanton debauchery were the mountainous levels of cocaine flowing through the dancefloor in the drug\u2019s 1970s heyday.<\/p>\n It\u2019s easy to think that Jones was an eager imbiber of coke, but it turns out she wasn\u2019t quite the fiend as many would assume. She did, however, develop an unorthodox manner to chase that potent dopamine hit when the moment took her.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I had taken as much cocaine as it is rumoured, I wouldn\u2019t have a nose,\u201d she confessed frankly in 2015\u2019s I\u2019ll Never Write My Memoirs. \u201cActually, I preferred to put a rock up my ass rather than snort it. Just as it\u2019s impossible to imagine the \u2018Pull up to the Bumper\u2019 singer performing mundane tasks like sorting her socks or carrying a big Tesco shop to a Ford Focus, shoving a rolled dollar bill up her nose just seems far too humdrum for Jones\u2019 flamboyant energy, ensuring her coke habit is just a little extra to ensure her mystique is intact.<\/p>\n Jones promoted all kinds of ways to enjoy the Devil\u2019s dandruff, including the novel mix of marijuana for another option that doesn\u2019t involve the nostrils, and seriously not to be confused with a popular kids\u2019 breakfast cereal. \u201cOr you put it in a bit of lotion and rub it on your skin,\u201d she added. \u201cTried that with a couple of girlfriends in Paris \u2014 nice. And the Cocoa Puffs. That way of taking it, rather than putting it up my nose.\u201d<\/p>\n
