{"id":421190,"date":"2026-04-28T06:07:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T06:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/421190\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T06:07:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T06:07:08","slug":"anticipation-grows-in-el-paso-as-bts-set-for-sold-out-concerts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/421190\/","title":{"rendered":"Anticipation grows in El Paso as BTS set for sold-out concerts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 Anticipation is building in El Paso as BTS prepares to take the stage at Sun Bowl Stadium for two sold-out shows this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s quite frankly one of the biggest events that we\u2019ve ever had in the region,\u201d said Jorge Vazquez, assistant vice president for UTEP Special Events. \u201cBigger than Coldplay was, not only in production elements, but just in magnitude.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the concerts are still days away, excitement is already on display across the Borderland.<\/p>\n<p>Fans gathered Monday at El Paso County Commissioners Court, many wearing purple and BTS merchandise, to celebrate the group\u2019s upcoming visit, their first to the region.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img w-full w-full h-auto\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/6e04a2015e9ec80750b78f79ef9441df.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like a dream come true,\u201d one fan said. \u201cOut of any place they could have picked, they picked El Paso.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>County commissioners also passed a resolution recognizing a local BTS ARMY group for its impact on the community, including organizing events and bringing fans together ahead of the concerts.<\/p>\n<p>The group also helped fund a special display at one of the city\u2019s most recognizable landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Starting Tuesday, April 28, the Star on the Mountain will glow purple for seven nights, an effort made possible through a community-led fundraising campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started a GoFundMe and quickly raised enough for one night,\u201d one organizer said. \u201cThen we kept going until it turned into the whole week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials say events like this not only bring excitement but also opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means a great opportunity to showcase what we are made of,\u201d Vazquez said. \u201cTo showcase that this community will attract visitors from all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if more major concerts could come to El Paso in the future, Vazquez said, \u201cOh, you bet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shows are scheduled for May 2nd and May 3rd.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
