US singer Billie Eilish spoke about the “toxic relationship” she has had with her body as she discussed her decision to wear baggy clothes.<\/p>\n
The Grammy-winning artist recalled feeling a sense of “relief” when putting on a big shirt, saying she has experienced “a lot of eating issues”.<\/p>\n
Eilish, 24, who often wears oversized clothing on stage, also said her fashion came from her desire “to be a man” and not be seen as feminine, adding that this is an example of misogyny that “we all have within us”.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Elle magazine, the What Was I Made For singer said: “I’m not the first person who\u2019s worn baggy clothes.”<\/p>\n
She added: “I had a really, really toxic relationship with my body.<\/p>\n
“I had a lot of eating issues.<\/p>\n
“I remember putting on, like, a big shirt and the relief that I felt. At the same time, it was my love for hip-hop culture and wanting to be a man.<\/p>\n
“This is the misogyny that we all have within us\u2026which is that I didn\u2019t want to be seen as feminine, and therefore weak. It\u2019s not right. I\u2019ve found a good way of not feeling like that.”<\/p>\n
Eilish won song of the year at the 2026 Grammy Awards for her track Wildflower, featured on her album Hit Me Hard And Soft.<\/p>\n
The singer has recently co-directed a concert film entitled Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour alongside Canadian filmmaker James Cameron.<\/p>\n
