Laura Dern has joined the cast of The White Lotus season four, following the departure of Helena Bonham Carter. The HBO series comes from creator Mike White, who previously co-created the series Enlightened with Dern.<\/p>\n

Bonham Carter’s casting had been announced in January, with production on the season getting underway earlier this month. <\/p>\n

The actress exited the series<\/a> just days into production, with a HBO spokesperson sharing a statement which read: “With filming just under way on season four of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set.<\/p>\n

“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but [they] remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a> Dern will play a new character, which White has developed and written for her.<\/p>\n

Dern previously had an uncredited voice cameo in The White Lotus season two as Abby, the estranged wife of Dominic Di Grasso (played by Michael Imperioli).<\/p>\n

The first three seasons of The White Lotus were set in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand. Season four of The White Lotus will be split between two hotels for the very first time. Filming is currently taking place in St Tropez, Monaco and Paris.<\/p>\n

The synopsis reads: “The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival.” <\/p>\n

The cast includes Steve Coogan, Vincent Cassel, Sandra Bernhard, Chloe Bennet, Ari Graynor, Dylan Ennis, Max Greenfield, and Kumail Nanjiani,<\/p>\n

The White Lotus airs on Sky Atlantic<\/a> in the UK and streams on HBO Max.<\/p>\n
