EL PASO, Texas (KTSM<\/a>) \u2014\u00a0\u00a0With BTS set to take the stage in El Paso in just days, demand for tickets is surging and so are scams.<\/p>\n

The Better Business Bureau<\/a> (BBB) is warning fans to be cautious when buying or selling tickets, especially as both shows at the Sun Bowl are expected to sell out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s too good to be true or the seller doesn\u2019t clearly show details like seat location or a refund policy, I think that\u2019s a clear indication,\u201d said Patrick Smiley, a marketing and communications specialist with the BBB.<\/p>\n

According to the BBB, scams often increase around major events when demand is high. Common schemes include fake tickets, look-alike websites and even cases where the same ticket is sold to multiple people.<\/p>\n

Officials say some buyers are also turning to social media to find tickets, but that can come with added risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we may see is Facebook Marketplace resellers\u2026 so before any transactions like that, make sure every transaction is traceable don\u2019t just send money,\u201d Smiley said.<\/p>\n

The BBB says there is no guaranteed way to verify a ticket when buying directly from an individual. Instead, experts recommend using well-known resale platforms, which may offer protections such as refunds if something goes wrong.<\/p>\n

One fan who planned to attend the concert said she learned that lesson the hard way.<\/p>\n

Indira, who asked to be identified by her first name, said she tried to sell her BTS tickets online but was targeted by a scammer.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore we proceed, you need to pay that initial refundable insurance fee for 100 bucks\u2026 just to ensure that you are legit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said after sending the money, the scammer asked for even more.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need to send another fee for the admin fee\u2026 and I was like, wait a minute this is not right. I already sent out a hundred\u2026 why am I sending more?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Indira said she refused to send additional money, but by then it was too late. She said the supposed buyer stopped responding, she never received payment for the tickets and never got the \u201cinsurance\u201d fee back.<\/p>\n

In addition to tickets, officials say fans should also be cautious when it comes to parking.<\/p>\n

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) officials say parking for the concerts will only be sold the day of the event. Any passes sold ahead of time are not expected to be honored.<\/p>\n

Officials are also urging fans to download their tickets ahead of time and save them to their mobile wallets. While Wi-Fi will be available at the stadium, large crowds could cause connectivity issues.<\/p>\n
