Ed Sheeran<\/a> has revealed he has had shingles<\/a> for the last month, but added that he is \u201con the mend now\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old pop star also announced that he has shaved his head, as he wanted to \u201csignify a fresh start\u201d.<\/p>\n

The singer, known for hits including Lego House and Thinking Out Loud, revealed the news in a post to Instagram on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Sheeran shared a carousel of photos with his 48.7 million followers about his recent life updates, with the cover photo revealing his new hairdo.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cYes, I\u2019ve shaved my hair. I wanted to shave it to signify a fresh start. A lot of new beginnings in my life (at the moment). I love it, thinking of keeping it this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheeran also told his fans he has been suffering from shingles, which is an infection which causes a painful rash.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had shingles for the last month, wouldn\u2019t recommend it, but on the mend now,\u201d Sheeran said.<\/p>\n

The disease includes symptoms such as a tingling feeling in an area of skin, headaches and feeling unwell.<\/p>\n

In the post, the star said he is \u201cso excited\u201d to perform more shows in South America as it has been \u201ctoo long\u201d, revealing upcoming dates for his Loop tour in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico and Chile.<\/p>\n

Sheeran added that he is continuing the tour next month, having recently finished a run of gigs in Australia and New Zealand, and said he \u201ccan\u2019t wait to get back cracking on that\u201d.<\/p>\n

The singer also told his fans he \u201cfinally\u201d watched the final series of Netflix<\/a> series Stranger Things<\/a>, which reached its long-awaited conclusion earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The post featured snaps of Sheeran playing the guitar and listening to music, as well as an image of his Netflix page showing him catching up on the hit sci-fi series starring Millie Bobby Brown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheeran also recommended Barbara Kingsolver\u2019s popular novel Demon Copperhead to his followers, hailing the book as \u201cbrilliant\u201d, and said that during his break from touring he has become interested in buying vinyl records.<\/p>\n
