The 33-year-old Peaky Blinders star has condemned \u201cabsolutely disgusting and vile\u201d online videos which circulated following speculation he had cheated, calling the situation \u201cvery unfair\u201d on himself and his former partner.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco on their Friends Keep Secrets video podcast, Keoghan discussed how the situation made him feel compelled to \u201cdisappear\u201d from the public eye, taking a break from events and social media.<\/p>\n

Keoghan said: \u201cI have been avoiding stuff. I have been like\u2026 You know, I came off Instagram, and social profiles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stopped going to events. I\u2019ve stopped just socialising.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s because there was a narrative out there that was never really even spoken on, a narrative that\u2019s not true, and I never confirmed or said anything about it. I just disappeared.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by host Lil Dicky, real name David Burd, about the narrative he was referring to, Keoghan responded: \u201cIt\u2019s that I cheated, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor continued: \u201cI don\u2019t want to ever bring anyone else into it but unfortunately, having a relationship in the public eye, it\u2019s \u2013 we all know this from our own stories, but it gets put out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you see the narrative, you see the story. A girl made a video and then a girl actually made the same video and went, \u2018sorry for making that up\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut no one seemed to latch on to that video. Seeing the reaction of this girl, I didn\u2019t want to come forward and put that girl under and go, \u2018hold on for a second\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keoghan explained he did not speak out about the rumours as he did not know how his former partner, who he did not name, \u201cdeals with it\u201d, adding: \u201cI don\u2019t wanna bring anyone else into it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The star continued: \u201cI\u2019m not asking for people to become my fan and like me, because that\u2019s not normal either, but I\u2019m asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvolving my parents who are no longer with me and my parents, fine, whatever, but just absolutely disgusting, vile \u2013 like, there\u2019s videos on TikTok, literally going \u2018I hate him\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause for someone who\u2019s went through a lot \u2013 and I\u2019m not saying this for a pity card or pity me \u2013 but why is it cool to hop on and beat somebody who\u2019s come from a lot?\u201d<\/p>\n

Keoghan has been outspoken about his childhood, which saw him and his brother sent to different foster homes as their mother struggled, and later died, from drug addiction.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cStuff I\u2019ve seen as a kid, and stuff I\u2019ve seen \u2013 my mum laying on the ground after injecting herself, and shit that I have to fight every day and do a lot of therapy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went through addiction myself and [am] in sobriety and battle all of that. To then want to drag that person\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dublin-born actor briefly dated US pop star Sabrina Carpenter, making a cameo appearance in her Please Please Please music video, before the pair reportedly split in 2024.<\/p>\n
