{"id":425751,"date":"2026-04-30T20:06:18","date_gmt":"2026-04-30T20:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/425751\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T20:06:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T20:06:18","slug":"tourist-volumes-up-16-in-march-as-sector-continues-recovery-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/425751\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourist volumes up 16% in March as sector continues recovery \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Irish tourism numbers continued to rebound in March after a drop-off in visitors last year, with overseas travellers also spending more last month than they did in the same month last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\">Central Statistics Office (CSO)<\/a> data has indicated. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Some 510,000 people visited the Republic from overseas during the month of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/st-patricks-day\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/st-patricks-day\/\">St Patrick\u2019s Day<\/a> festival, up 16 per cent from March 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Foreign visitors who departed Ireland in March 2026 stayed a total of 3.2 million nights in the country, up 14 per cent on March 2025 and up 4 per cent on March 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Expenditure by overseas visitors was estimated at \u20ac372 million in March, up 14 per cent from March 2025 but down 11 per cent compared with March 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Visitor numbers and tourist expenditure have increased in each of the first three months of the year compared with the same month in 2025, according to CSO data. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Uncertainty around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/united-states\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/united-states\/\">US<\/a> trade policy was believed to have dampened the Irish and European tourist market in 2025.
