Coronation Street’s Kit Green may not have been intending to make any friends when he moved to Weatherfield, but upcoming scenes will see him struggle to balance his friendships with his job.<\/p>\n

After the dead body is discovered in tonight’s episode<\/a>, Kit and fellow detective Lisa Swain<\/a> will launch a full-scale murder investigation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It’s definitely a balancing act”, Kit actor Jacob Roberts said.<\/p>\n

“It makes things very difficult when you have to interrogate someone intensely in one scene, and then the very next scene you\u2019re seeing them for a pint in the pub. You have to put the ‘police head’ on and then switch back to being a friend.<\/p>\n

“It’s like playing two different characters, but ultimately, it’s just two different sides of the same man.<\/p>\n

“One side is loyal and the other is determined to get justice \u2013 no matter what.”<\/p>\n

The soap confirmed ages ago that the dead body would be one of five characters<\/a>: Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh or Theo Silverton. All the characters have made enemies of other residents, especially in the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

Another aspect of the reveal’s aftermath that the soap will explore is what will happen to the surviving characters.<\/p>\n

“Going forward, there’s so many consequences for each individual character”, the soap’s producer Kate Brooks recently said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Then we’ve also got the ‘who did it?’ element \u2013 that’s a big story going forward, as well as unpacking what’s going on with all those other characters. It’s very complex but satisfying and enjoyable as well.”<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a> and YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n
