Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has good news for Debbie Webster fans \u2013 there’s still a long way to go in the popular character’s big storyline.<\/p>\n

The ITV soap has been exploring how Debbie’s life has changed since she was diagnosed with dementia<\/a>, but producers aren’t ready to lose her from the show anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Debbie was recently given a chance to enjoy every moment with her friends on the cobbles when she was released from prison<\/a> following an appeal. <\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy during a recent Corrie press event, Sue promised: “I think there is a long way to go for Debbie. There’s a lot more fun to be had. You do see her deteriorating and that’s really upsetting, but you still see the Debbie that I love to play \u2013 the fun Debbie!<\/p>\n

“It’s Debbie in all her glory. You see her with her friends and that’s lovely. She’s doing all the things that she’s always wanted to do in life.”<\/p>\n

Discussing the story’s real-life connotations, she continued: “None of us know how long we’ve got. We all know we’re going, but we just don’t know when!<\/p>\n

“If someone said to me, ‘You’ve got two years, Sue, what are you going to do in these last two years of your life?’, I’d just want to be around my friends and my family. I’d definitely want to travel a little bit too. And I’d want to make amends with everyone I thought I’d hurt in the past. And forgive others \u2013 that’s a massive thing.<\/p>\n

“Often the things you thought really matter, don’t really matter! Things like: ‘Is that person speaking to me? Have I done something to that person?’ That’s all irrelevant, isn’t it?”<\/p>\n

Sue predicted that Debbie’s main focus will be absolute honesty with her loved ones \u2013 so they should probably all brace themselves for some home truths\u2026<\/p>\n

She said: “Debbie is just happy to be with the people she loves. She’ll enjoy having them around and enjoy life at its fullest, but be honest with them too. Debbie’s come from that background where she’s entrepreneurial. She’s got the big hotel, and in the past wanted to drive the best car and have a wonderful house.<\/p>\n

“It’s all ‘stuff’ \u2013 but actually none of that impresses! I’ve realised that over the years myself \u2013 none of that impresses me. It never has done.<\/p>\n

“What really matters is honesty \u2013 if you can be honest with yourself and those around you. That’s what Debbie is trying to do, so she’ll say everything she wants to say, before she can’t say it.” <\/p>\n
