{"id":430076,"date":"2026-05-03T11:01:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T11:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/430076\/"},"modified":"2026-05-03T11:01:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T11:01:10","slug":"road-closures-as-winners-cross-the-line-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/430076\/","title":{"rendered":"Road closures as winners cross the line \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">An estimated 13,000 runners are taking part in this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\">Dublin<\/a> city half marathon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The 21.1km course started on O\u2019Connell Street at 8:30am and will finish on Guild Street in the north-east inner city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Se\u00e1n Tobin of Clonmel AC, from Tipperary, crossed the finish line at 1:03:11 to win the men\u2019s race and Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill of West Limerick AC, Limerick won the women\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Runners in the second staging of the annual event are following the route through Phibsborough, Drumcondra, Beaumont and Artane, passing iconic landmarks including Croke Park, the tree-lined avenues of Killester and Raheny, the Clontarf coastline and the historic Five Lamps, before a North East Inner-City finish at Guild Street, near The Convention Centre.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"A participant dressed as Darth Vadar pictured at the second edition of the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon on Sunday Photograph: Sportsfile\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/FZXWQ4HOH6L7BLBDXUXTVBAURA.jpg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"831\"\/>A participant dressed as Darth Vadar pictured at the second edition of the Dublin City Council Dublin City Half Marathon on Sunday Photograph: Sportsfile <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">With thousands of participants and strong community support along the route, the event celebrates a shared city-centre experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The event is impacting public transport services and there will be diversions in place up to 6.30pm in places. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Road closures throughout the Dublin half marathon\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/6WIVSCVHWRCXPOQ7AE2SJYB4IM.jpg\"   width=\"800\" height=\"1121\"\/>Road closures throughout the Dublin half marathon <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Various bus replacement services will be operating for Luas and Dart services. There will be no northside trains running on race day, due to engineering works between Clontarf Road and Drogheda, which continues on Monday.
