This week is one for crime drama enthusiasts, with several exciting new and returning series on the way. British spy thriller Citadel, with its stacked cast that includes Lesley Manville and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is one of shows making a comeback. Described by Prime Video as a “heart-racing” series, season two is sure to have plenty of edge-of-the-seat tension in store. <\/p>\n

Netflix will also treat viewers with a brand-new series said to be based on “one of the most remarkable criminal investigations ever conducted”. Away from all the gritty watches is a returning BBC sitcom that promises to be the light watch needed to accompany all these dark and twisty stories coming your way. <\/p>\n

Season two finds Amanda still living in South Harlesden and juggling a hectic life which includes two teenagers, her online brand Senuous, and her co-lab. <\/p>\n

Despite her very full life, Amanda sets her sights on a new ambition when she learns that a big house in her area is up for sale. But landing the home of her dreams won’t be simple. <\/p>\n

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley is also set to return as Amanda’s mum Felicity.<\/p>\n

Citadel, season 2 <\/p>\n

The series sees Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles as elite operatives Mason Kane, Nadia Sinh and Bernard Orlick respectively, who were formerly a part of a legendary agency before it was destroyed. <\/p>\n

According to the synopsis, season two will see the three reunite to recruit a new team of skilled operatives. Together they will take on the mammoth “globe-spanning mission to stop a conspiracy that could reshape humanity”. <\/p>\n

Also starring Lesley Manville, Prime Video promises “blockbuster action, shocking betrayals, and an expanded ensemble of mysterious agents, the stakes have never been higher \u2013 and anyone could be friend or foe”. <\/p>\n

Legends <\/p>\n

Netflix’s gripping ’90s-set thriller<\/a> is on its way. According to Netflix, the drama is inspired by “one of the most remarkable criminal investigations ever conducted”, with the series centred on Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise’s desperate attempt to control illegal drug smuggling across Britain’s borders. <\/p>\n

Written and created by Neil Forsyth (The Gold), the series follows a top-secret team of Customs employees, “normal men and women”, who are sent undercover, given basic training and tasked with building new identities in the criminal underworld. These identities were known as Legends.<\/p>\n

Legends is available from Thursday 7 May on Netflix.<\/p>\n

The Chestnut Man, season 2<\/p>\n

The drama kicks off this season when the digital footprints of a missing 41-year old woman reveal that she has been the victim of stalking for months. <\/p>\n

Her cruel stalkers plagues her with images and videos, ramping up the intensity levels by haunting her with an eerie nursery rhyme-style counting song. <\/p>\n

When she is later found dead, her case is linked to that of a 17-year-old high school student, who was murdered two years prior. In the centre of these gruesome cases is a sinister perpetrator who must be stopped. <\/p>\n

The Chestnut Man season 2 is available from Thursday 7 May on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Unconditional <\/p>\n

Apple TV’s upcoming thriller is tipped to tug on the heart strings. The eight-part series centres on mother and daughter duo Orna (Liraz Chamami) and Gali (Talia Lynne Ronn), whose vacation becomes their worst nightmare when 25-year old Gali is arrested. <\/p>\n

Living up to the show’s title, Orna’s unconditional love for her daughter sees her go to extreme lengths to prove Gali’s innocence. <\/p>\n

Unconditional is available from Friday 8 May on Apple TV.

Sally Lindsay and Jill Halfpenny star in this Channel 5 thriller as a TV star and her super-fan Lucy Logan and Donna Hughes respectively. <\/p>\n

When Donna comes to Lucy’s rescue in a freak mugging incident, the TV host is grateful enough to invite her number-one fan to visit her on set. However, it isn’t long before things take a sinister turn. <\/p>\n

Number One Fan is available from Monday 4 May 8pm on Channel 5.<\/p>\n

Monsieur Spade <\/p>\n

Crime drama Monsieur Spade makes its way to UK TV this week. The 1963-set series unfolds in the South of France, and follows retired detective Sam Spade (Clive Owen) who is shunted out of the quiet life and into more gritty crime cases when six nuns turn up dead at a local convent. <\/p>\n

As Sam delves into the investigation, buried secrets come rising to the surface. His personal affairs are also thrown off kilter when the past he thought he was done with comes back to find him. <\/p>\n

Monsieur Spade will be available from Saturday 9 May 9pm on U&Drama.
