Homes across Ireland are facing another hit to their bills after Panda Waste confirmed it’s introducing a new surcharge linked to rising fuel costs.<\/p>\n
The company has notified customers by letter and email that a “temporary fuel surcharge” will be added to waste collection bills from May.<\/p>\n
Panda Waste, which provides services to more than 300,000 homes and businesses across Ireland, said the new charge will add 97 cent plus VAT per month to bills – amounting to around \u20ac12 a year.<\/p>\n
The additional fee will appear as a separate line on customers’ invoices, increasing the cost of collections at a time when many households are already dealing with rising living expenses.<\/p>\n
In a message to customers, the company said: “Like many businesses Panda has been hit hard by the recent spike in fuel prices in the last month driven by ongoing global instability.<\/p>\n
“Until now we have absorbed these rising costs ourselves to protect our customers from changes to their bill. Unfortunately with prices continuing to climb we are no longer able to do so without affecting this service you rely on.<\/p>\n
“From May 2026, your invoice will include an itemised temporary fuel surcharge of \u20ac0.97. plus VAT per month. As an example, if you have two collections per month on a three-bin collection service, the fuel surcharge works out at just over 16 cents plus VAT per collection.<\/p>\n
“This surcharge is temporary, and will be reviewed each month. When fuel prices ease we’ll remove this charge and let you know as soon as possible. Your service will continue as normal.”<\/p>\n
The latest increase comes just months after Panda Waste raised several of its charges earlier this year. In February, its half-yearly service fee rose from \u20ac70 to \u20ac75, while the cost of a general waste bin lift increased from \u20ac13.50 to \u20ac14.75.<\/p>\n
