A Garda was rushed to hospital after being run over by a thug on an e-bike in Blanchardstown, West Dublin.<\/p>\n
The garda, who was on patrol in the area and seeking out youngsters on scramblers and e-bikes, was run over when he and colleagues approached teens in the Hartstown Park area at around 5pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n
It is understood officers were monitoring youngsters who have been illegally driving scramblers and terrorising the local area when the shocking collision occurred.<\/p>\n
Officers were also monitoring suspected drug dealing in the park.<\/p>\n
Sources say the incident played out in the park which was at the time populated by many young children and families.<\/p>\n
The Garda was knocked over by a teenager on the vehicle – understood to be a Sur-Ron electric bike.<\/p>\n
He was taken to hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries. It is understood he has since been discharged from hospital.<\/p>\n
A male teenager, understood to be a juvenile, was also arrested in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n
The incident comes just one week on from concerns being raised at a local council committee about the rise of scramblers in Hartstown Park.<\/p>\n
