\n\tOlivia Wilde<\/a> confronted social media criticisms over her recent appearance\u00a0San Francisco International Film Festival by laughing off the comments and telling her Instagram followers: \u201cI\u2019m not dead.\u201d Wilde was interviewed on the festival\u2019s red carpet by the San Francisco Chronicle ahead of a screening for her new movie, \u201cThe Invite.\u201d Video of the red carpet interview resulted in Wilde being compared to Gollum from \u201cThe Lord of the Rings,\u201d among other rude comments on social media. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLeave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of shit,\u201d Wilde captioned a post on her Instagram story in which she confronted the Gollum comparisons by having her brother, Charlie, ask: \u201cOlivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumors that you\u2019re a resurrected corpse?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, that\u2019s a fish-eye lens. And I admit, is that my best angle? Was that my best-ever look? No. No, it\u2019s startling. It\u2019s a startling image,\u201d Wilde responded (via People<\/a>). \u201cIt was a fish-eye lens. I don\u2019t know why I was so close to the camera. I didn\u2019t have to be. That\u2019s not the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDo you have any more questions?\u201d Wild asked her brother before adding with a laugh: \u201cI\u2019m not dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWilde premiered \u201cThe Invite\u201d to rave reviews at Sundance, where the film was picked up by A24 in a deal worth<\/a> more than $12 million. Wilde also stars in the movie alongside Seth Rogen, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton. Rogen and Wilde play a married couple on thin ice who have an unexpected night when they invite their upstairs neighbors over for dinner. Variety\u2019s\u00a0chief film critic Owen Gleiberman called the movie in his review<\/a> a \u201cbravura dinner-party dramedy\u201d that \u201ckeeps you laughing and never stops surprising.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to \u201cThe Invite,\u201d Wilde also attended Sundance as the star of Gregg Araki\u2019s \u201cI Want Your Sex.\u201d The festival was viewed as something of a career comeback for her after her last directorial effort, \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling,\u201d was overshadowed by her off-screen romance with its star Harry Styles and reports of tension with her leading lady, Florence Pugh. As Variety wrote<\/a>: \u201cWith \u2018The Invite\u2019 and \u2018I Want Your Sex\u2019 Wilde returns to the center of the frame, reminding audiences not only of what they\u2019ve been missing, but what they failed to appreciate all along.\u201d<\/p>\n
