Emma Watson addressed her ongoing rift with \u201cHarry Potter\u201d creator J.K. Rowling after publicly opposing the latter\u2019s anti-transgender remarks.<\/p>\n
The actress, who portrayed Hermione Granger in the movie franchise, revealed on Tuesday\u2019s episode of the \u201cOn Purpose\u201d podcast<\/a> that she hopes to make amends with Rowling despite the author stating she would \u201cnever forgive\u201d Watson for supporting the trans community.<\/p>\n \u201cI really don\u2019t believe that by having had that experience [in \u2018Harry Potter\u2019] and holding the love and support and views that I have, means that I can\u2019t and don\u2019t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with,\u201d she told host Jay Shetty.<\/p>\n Emma Watson spoke out about her ongoing rift with \u201cHarry Potter\u201d creator J.K. WireImage<\/p>\n \u201cI will never believe that one negates the other, and that my experience of that person, I don\u2019t get to keep and cherish,\u201d Watson, 35, explained.<\/p>\n \u201cI think, it\u2019s my deepest wish that I hope people who don\u2019t agree with my opinion will love me, and I hope I can keep loving people who I don\u2019t necessarily share the same opinion with,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n \u201cI really do believe in having conversations and that those are really important. I guess where I\u2019ve landed is, it\u2019s not so much what we say or what we believe, but very often how we say it.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI will never believe that one negates the other, and that my experience of that person, I don\u2019t get to keep and cherish,\u201d she said. I believe that no one is disposable. And everyone \u2026 no matter the conversation is, should and can be treated with, at the very least, dignity and respect.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI really do believe in having conversations and that those are really important. Woomud?\u201d she wrote at the time<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf sex isn\u2019t real, there\u2019s no same-sex attraction,\u201d Rowling wrote in a follow-up tweet<\/a>. \u201cIf sex isn\u2019t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives.
