Locals have spoken of their shock at a \u2018horrific\u2019 daytime assault in the middle of the Twin Towns last week<\/p>\n

On Saturday, April 25, a man was attacked outside a house just off Stranorlar\u2019s Main Street at around 10am. <\/p>\n

Several witnesses, who did not wish to be named, told Donegal Daily the injured party was repeatedly hit over the head with a flower pot on his own doorstop. <\/p>\n

The alleged assailant, a local man who is well-known to Garda\u00ed, followed the injured man to the main street where he continued to attack him. The victim subsequently sought refuge in a local business premises and an ambulance and Garda\u00ed were called. The man was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital where he was treated for head wounds. He spent four days in hospital before being released.<\/p>\n

One witness claimed the alleged attacker is still \u2018walking the streets.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t believe my eyes that this was happening in the middle of our town on a Saturday morning,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a horrific attack and the poor man was bleedingly heavily, I thought he was going to be killed. The attacker is still walking the streets, even though the guards were on the scene, I just don\u2019t understand it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said the incident occurred as locals were returning from Mass in the local chapel.<\/p>\n
