The Sanderson sisters will be back for round three of Hocus Pocus, as a threequel of the Disney<\/a> movie is officially in the works after being first teased in 2023<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> reports that original stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimi and Sarah Jessica Parker are set to reprise their roles as Winifred, Mary and Sarah Sanderson. The trio of witches were first introduced in the 1993 Halloween classic and appeared again in 2022’s Hocus Pocus 2.<\/p>\n

The upcoming film is expected to fly into cinemas after the straight-to-streaming Hocus Pocus 2, though Disney declined to comment as the project is still in early development. Plot details for chapter three are also being kept under wraps for now.<\/p>\n

Kenny Ortega’s original Hocus Pocus movie follows three Salem witches inadvertently resurrected by teenage boy Max (Omri Katz) on Halloween night. As Max, with his younger sister Dani (Thora Birch) and high school crush Allison (Vinessa Shaw), works to stop them, the witches devise a plan to secure immortality.<\/p>\n

The sequel, written by Jen D’Angelo and directed by Anne Fletcher, sees two new characters being tricked into bringing the Sanderson sisters back to life, with more shenanigans ensuing as the witches interact with the modern world.<\/p>\n

Speaking previously about the possibility of playing the role of Winnie in a third movie<\/a>, Midler told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> in 2022: “I’ve always been envious of people who get to do their favourite character more than once … I’d love to have a franchise \u2014 especially a character I love playing.”<\/p>\n

Screenwriter Jen D’Angelo previously teased the third movie back in 2023. “We’re still in the story phase, we’re still working on it. We’ve been working on some ideas, and it’s been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore,” he told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n
