Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha has signed his first professional contract with the club.<\/a><\/p>\n The 17-year-old joined the Reds\u2019 Academy in September 2024 after leaving Chelsea, where he had been since the age of eight.<\/p>\n Since arriving at Anfield, he has made five senior appearances, the most recent coming in Tuesday\u2019s 2-1 Carabao Cup third-round win over Southampton.<\/p>\n Ngumoha made headlines last month when he became the youngest scorer in Liverpool\u2019s history, netting a stoppage-time winner in the 3-2 Premier League victory at Newcastle at just 16 years and 361 days old.<\/p>\n That strike also placed him fourth on the list of the youngest goalscorers in Premier League history, behind James Vaughan, James Milner, and Wayne Rooney.<\/p>\n Born in Newham, East London, on August 29, 2008, Ngumoha opted to leave Chelsea in search of a clearer pathway to first-team football at Liverpool.<\/p>\n Because he departed Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract while under the age of 24, Chelsea are entitled to a compensation fee.<\/p>\n The two clubs have yet to agree on a figure, meaning a tribunal may be required to determine the final sum and payment structure.<\/p>\n Ngumoha made his senior debut in January\u2019s FA Cup third-round tie at home to Accrington and, after impressing in pre-season, was promoted to Arne Slot\u2019s first-team squad.<\/p>\n He also featured for the Reds\u2019 U18s, U19s, and U21s in 2024-25.<\/p>\n Ngumoha\u2019s rise has seen him established as a senior option in Arne Slot\u2019s squad, offering competition for Cody Gakpo on the left and adding depth to a frontline featuring Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Federico Chiesa.<\/p>\n According to Sky Sports\u2019 Lyall Thomas<\/a>, Ngumoha\u2019s deal at Liverpool runs for three years, the maximum length permitted for players of his age.<\/p>\n Read more:\u00a0Parma sends public message of support to Giovanni Leoni<\/a><\/p>\n Liverpool make offer for PSG winger<\/a><\/p>\n
