TOKYO, Japan \u2015 Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE:6723, \u201cRenesas\u201d), a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced that\u00a0a subsidiary of Renesas has completed the acquisition of\u00a0Irida Labs, a\u00a0Greece-based\u00a0company specializing in\u00a0embedded\u00a0software\u00a0for\u00a0AI-powered\u00a0visual perception\u00a0systems.\u00a0The acquisition strengthens Renesas\u2019\u00a0edge\u00a0AI embedded processing offerings, a key secular growth area for Renesas. It also\u00a0enables system-level solutions that integrate physical AI and software\u00a0to power\u00a0camera and\u00a0machine vision\u00a0systems across industrial,\u00a0robotics,\u00a0smart city, IoT, agricultural and healthcare\u00a0markets.\u00a0As part of Renesas\u2019 Digitalization strategy, Irida Labs\u2019 software\u00a0and tools\u00a0will be integrated into\u00a0Renesas 365<\/a>,\u00a0a newly released platform\u00a0that\u00a0unifies\u00a0electronics system development\u00a0from discovery to\u00a0development\u00a0and lifecycle management.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While the\u00a0demand for intelligent systems at the edge\u00a0continues to soar across industries, developers must often overcome\u00a0growing\u00a0complexity\u00a0of\u00a0AI system development. This includes the integration of power-constraint embedded processors and software, training and deploying AI\u00a0models\u00a0and addressing latency and security risks\u00a0associated with\u00a0data transmission. Vision AI\u00a0software\u00a0plays\u00a0a\u00a0critical\u00a0role\u00a0in\u00a0interpreting\u00a0and\u00a0processing\u00a0visual data from cameras and sensors\u00a0widely used in\u00a0industrial inspection,\u00a0robotics guidance, in-cabin automotive sensing, traffic and infrastructure monitoring,\u00a0smart\u00a0retail analytics and safety and security systems.<\/p>\n

The addition of Irida Labs\u00a0into Renesas\u2019\u00a0product portfolio\u00a0addresses these emerging challenges. By combining Renesas\u2019\u00a0AI-enabled RA microcontrollers (MCUs) and RZ microprocessors (MPUs) with\u00a0Irida Labs\u2019s comprehensive tool suite and lightweight Vision AI software, Renesas can now deliver\u00a0high-performance, power-efficient\u00a0edge AI solutions that are ready for deployment. Together, these capabilities reinforce Renesas\u2019 progress\u00a0toward fully\u00a0integrated\u00a0Vision AI system solutions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bringing these capabilities in-house enables Renesas to deliver more tightly integrated solutions quickly.
