{"id":437462,"date":"2026-05-07T19:47:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T19:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/437462\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T19:47:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T19:47:08","slug":"dundalk-photographer-paula-kavanagh-to-step-back-after-35-years-behind-the-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/437462\/","title":{"rendered":"Dundalk photographer Paula Kavanagh to step back after 35 years behind the lens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well-known Dundalk photographer Paula Kavanagh has announced she will be stepping back from her photography business in February 2027, bringing to a close more than 35 years of documenting local life.<\/p>\n<p>Kavanagh, who began her career in 1989 working alongside her father Paul Kavanagh on St Mary\u2019s Road before establishing her own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dundalkdemocrat.ie\/section\/687\/blackrock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Blackrock<\/a> studio in 2006, has captured generations of families across weddings, births, anniversaries and everyday milestones. She said she feels \u201cnothing but gratitude\u201d for the trust placed in her over the decades and the opportunity to record so many personal and community moments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I look back, I feel nothing but gratitude. It has been such a privilege to share in your lives and to capture so many of your happiest moments. From weddings to newborn babies, to milestone anniversaries and everything in between, I\u2019ve had the honour of watching your families grow and change over the years. Those memories are something I will always treasure,\u201d Paula said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhotography has never just been a job to me\u2014it\u2019s been a way of life, full of variety, creativity, and connection. No two days were ever the same, and that\u2019s something I\u2019ve truly loved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always believed in the importance of capturing life through professional photographs, and I\u2019m so thankful that you trusted me to do that for you. It would be a lovely way to round off this chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of the images Paula has taken over the years have been carefully recorded, and with the\u00a0 support of the Dundalk Archival Office, the Paul Kavanagh Collection has also been preserved and catalogued for the future. This collection of negatives dates from the 50s to the present day and documents so much of the history of Dundalk, its people and the border area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you again for your support, your trust, and for allowing me to be part of your stories.
