\n\tIt\u2019s time to update the N\u00fcrburgring record book year again.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Porsche<\/a> Taycan has reclaimed its title as the fastest production EV in the motor sports complex\u2019s history after it circled its north loop in 6:55.533 minutes last month. It was a Turbo GT variant equipped with the Manthey Performance that set the new mark, easily besting a time that had been set by the Yangwang U9 Xtreme<\/a> last summer.<\/p>\n

\n\tN\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife is the track for the world\u2019s highest performance cars to prove their mettle. There\u2019s a good reason for this, as the 12.94-mile circuit, which is sometimes affectionately called \u201cthe Green Hell,\u201d features 73 officially recognized turns (33 left and 40 right) and over 1,000 feet of elevation changes. A car has to be able to handle all of the track\u2019s many challenges in order to have a hope of making it onto one of the N\u00fcrburgring leader boards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tPorsche development driver Lars Kern was behind the wheel of the Taycan GT for its latest record-setting run. In circling the notorious track in 6:55.533 minutes, the EV beat the U9 Xtreme, which the N\u00fcrburgring officials classify as an electric super sports car, by more than three-and-a-half seconds. It beat the previous record for an electric executive car, which was set by the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra<\/a> in January 2025, by more than nine seconds. It also beat the previous Taycan record, which was set by a Turbo GT with Weissach package<\/a> in the 2023, my more than 12 seconds.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s not a complete shock to see the Taycan GT in the N\u00fcrburgring record book. The Taycan Turbo S was once the fastest EV in the track\u2019s history<\/a>, while the Turbo GT with Weissach package was the fastest electric executive car before being bested by the SU7 Ultra. The range-topping version of Porsche\u2019s first EV has a dual-motor powertrain that makes up to 1,1019 hp. The Manthey package adds a special powertrain tune, chassis upgrades, rear aerodisc wheels, and a giant wing to the mix.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Taycan Turbo GT\u2019s 6:55.533 lap time is a production mark, and so you\u2019ll soon be able to buy the EV in the record-setting spec. Porsche has yet to say how much the top-of-the-line EV will cost, but something north of the Turbo GT with Weissach package\u2019s $243,700 starting price seems likely.<\/p>\n
