Irish language rappers Kneecap have released their third album, Fenian – and are coming to Cork to promote the launch.<\/p>\n
The trio announced two gigs on social media today, as they prepare to perform at the recently reopened Savoy on Patrick Street on Tuesday, May 26. The group said: “For the first time in many years we return to the capital of the planet on May 26. This is our FINAL intimate gig for Fenian for ye Cork feens.<\/p>\n
“We will play two shows (6.30pm & 9pm) and tickets are ONSALE now and be gone in minutes.” Tickets are available via EventBrite<\/a>, with the page temporarily crashing earlier this evening as fans clamoured for a spot.<\/p>\n The latest album follows wave after wave of controversy for the Belfast trio. Earlier this year, British prime minister Keir Starmer branded the group “completely intolerable”<\/a> – a plaudit that members Mo Chara, M\u00f3gla\u00ed Bap, and DJ Pr\u00f3va\u00ed were proud to display on the posters for Fenian .<\/p>\n Starmer’s comments came after the CPS lost an appeal against the throwing out of a case<\/a> against group member Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara. He had been accused of displaying a flag in support of proscribed terror organisation Hezbollah at a gig at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, on November 21 2024.<\/p>\n The group is well-known for its pro-Palestine stance, Last year the rappers paid a visit to Cork’s famous Palestinian Izz Cafe<\/a> during a visit to Leeside.<\/p>\n Asked for his opinion during a visit to Belfast in March, Starmer said: “My views on Kneecap are very well known in relation to what they stand for, and what they say, which is completely intolerable. I think the CPS were obviously subject to the High Court decision and they will be looking at the judgment very carefully.”<\/p>\n Unfortunately for Starmer, his condemnation backfired, with his comment ending up on promotional posters for the new album.<\/p>\n
