Mike D of Beastie Boys<\/a> will join the Sunday line-up of the Beyond the Pale<\/a> festival, which will take place from June 12th-14th. <\/p>\n

Wicklow\u2019s<\/a> Glendalough<\/a> will host the hip-hop star\u2019s only European show announced to date, marking his first live project in 14 years and his first time playing Ireland in almost two decades since headlining Electric Picnic<\/a> in 2007.<\/p>\n

Known as Mike D, Michael Diamond was both vocalist and drummer of the American hip-hop group. Their hits included (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!), Sabotage, Intergalactic and No Sleep Till Brooklyn. <\/p>\n

The group ceased performing following the death of founding member Adam Yauch in 2012.<\/p>\n

Yauch, also known by the stage name MCA, died aged 47, three years after being diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node.<\/p>\n

In a post shortly after Yauch\u2019s death, Diamond described him as \u201cour closest friend, band mate and really brother\u201d.<\/p>\n

The scheduled live performance will be accompanied by a six\u2011piece band. <\/p>\n

Diamond\u2019s billing sees him join Caribou, Father John Misty, Primal Scream and Of Monsters and Men.<\/p>\n

Irish acts featured in the line-up include Cabra rapper Kojaque, Galway indie rockers New Dad and trad supergroup Biird. <\/p>\n
