The video was filmed after she appeared on comedian Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast this week, with the two dancing to \u201cThe Spark\u201d by the Irish children’s hip hop groups Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew.<\/p>\n
The song went viral across the world when it was first released two years ago.<\/p>\n
Jackie Rea, who helped with the creation of the song, and is the mother of Ella and David who performed it, told The Echo that one of the older teens sent the video into a group chat: \u201cShe was like \u2018lads, I know it\u2019s 2am, but Billie Eilish is dancing to The Spark in the big 26\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought it was a prank initially, we thought it was AI, but it came from their real accounts. As soon as Ella and David woke up for school I told them.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe whole lot of them love Billie Eilish, they\u2019re massive diehard fans. When they\u2019re looking for beats to write music to they look for Billie Eilish style beats, so this is crazy for them.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
Ms Rea, who is also a volunteer tutor, and participant at the Kabin\u2019s adult Song Project, added: \u201cI\u2019d be more the Amy Poehler fan \u2013 she plays Joy in Inside Out which my son is a big fan of.\u201d She said that it was great to see the song being spread around again, two years after it was initially released and went viral.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that music made in Cork is blowing up all over the world is fantastic. There were hundreds of videos of people dancing to it, the amount of times we burst into tears watching them was unreal.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe kids know now that they can make a song that people all over the world can listen to and connect to, and it was such a positive anthem.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n “It was made in partnership with Music Generation Cork City, so it\u2019s all thanks to them \u2013 it really shows the importance of funding youth creativity.\u201d\u00a0\n <\/p>\n
The Kabin have several upcoming events like Rap a Mile and Rock the Block on June 6 in the city centre for Cruinni\u00fa na n\u00d3g, as well as their adult show on June 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Some of the group\u2019s older students were recently over in Toronto for the premier of Gealtra, which they were involved in.<\/p>\n
Ms Rea mentioned that Billie Eilish told the crowd at Electric Picnic in 2023 that she is partly Irish and loves the country, and added: \u201cThere\u2019s big crossovers with the way Billie and the kids make music, trying to get their emotions out through the songs.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s an amazing performer, and she\u2019s welcome to visit us anytime. We\u2019ll put the kettle on and get the good biscuits for her.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is believed that Billie\u2019s great grandfather came from Lisbealad near Dunmanway in West Cork. William H O\u2019Connell married Catherine T O\u2019Connell, after they both emigrated to Boston.
