{"id":440291,"date":"2026-05-09T12:29:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T12:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/440291\/"},"modified":"2026-05-09T12:29:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T12:29:08","slug":"row-over-alleged-illegal-occupation-of-former-cinema-car-park-to-be-heard-in-july-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/440291\/","title":{"rendered":"Row over alleged illegal occupation of former cinema car park to be heard in July \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/high-court\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/high-court\/\">High Court<\/a> row over the alleged illegal occupation of a car park attached to a former cinema building in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> is to be heard in July. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Kaifan Ltd owns the old Gala Cinema property in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ballyfermot\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/ballyfermot\/\">Ballyfermot<\/a>, which stopped screening movies in 1980 and was later used as a bingo hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It claims that Thomas Kearney, a former tenant of the car park, and a number of other people, illegally took possession of the car park last February. Shortly before this, possession had been peaceably taken for Kaifan by asset recovery and security firm Blackwater Asset Management. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In March Kaifan was given permission by the court to serve proceedings on Kearney and on \u201cpersons unknown\u201d seeking their removal.
