{"id":442471,"date":"2026-05-11T00:38:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T00:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/442471\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T00:38:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T00:38:10","slug":"pictures-vintage-tractors-continue-to-drive-on-for-good-causes-in-limerick-and-surrounding-counties-page-1-of-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/442471\/","title":{"rendered":"PICTURES: Vintage tractors continue to drive on for good causes in Limerick and surrounding counties &#8211; Page 1 of 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THERE is plenty of life left in Leyland tractors as local charities have benefitted from the vintage machines being driven far away from their farm yards and sheds.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Leyland Munster Tractor Run, which was on February 28 and March 1, raised an amazing \u20ac38,480 for good causes.<\/p>\n<p>One of the organisers, Colette Acheson, Ballyneety, said 40 vintage tractors took off from Ahern\u2019s bar in Newport on a 350km route over two days taking in all six counties of Munster. It is a far cry from their first run in 2022 when just eight tractors and their drivers took part,<\/p>\n<p>Colette says this year\u2019s chosen charities are Cliona\u2019s Foundation and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/limerickleader.ie\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Limerick<\/a>, Clare and Tipperary branches of Down Syndrome Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Colette said, on behalf of all involved in the Leyland Munster Tractor Run, that they were very proud to present cheques of\u00a0 \u20ac14,480 to Cliona&#8217;s Foundation and \u20ac8,000 each to Down Syndrome Limerick, Down Syndrome Clare and Down Syndrome Tipperary, at a special presentation night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are truly delighted to support such incredible charities. A massive thank you to everyone who supported and sponsored us &#8211; this simply wouldn\u2019t be possible without their generosity,\u201d said Colette.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past five years, they have raised an incredible \u20ac134,500 for charities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started with eight tractors in 2022 and now it\u2019s 40 tractors in 2026.
