{"id":442591,"date":"2026-05-11T03:05:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T03:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/442591\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T03:05:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T03:05:13","slug":"pics-of-the-day-supporters-react-to-famous-connacht-title-triumph-gaa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/442591\/","title":{"rendered":"PICS OF THE DAY: Supporters react to famous Connacht title triumph &#8211; GAA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">If ever there was one pic that summed up an unforgettable experience at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park, it&#8217;s the photo of Roscommon superfan, Willie Tiernan from Boyle, shedding a tear as the Rossies capture the Nestor Cup on home soil for the first time in 25 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Who says the provincial championships don&#8217;t matter!<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On the day that the heroes from 2001 were honoured, Mark Dowd&#8217;s team capped the perfect day by launching a late comeback to stun Galway and win the Connacht title for the first time in seven years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Supporters swarmed onto the Hyde&#8217;s pristine surface afterwards, eager to celebrate with their heroes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">One Primrose and Blue flag read &#8220;Kings of Connacht&#8221; which is a fairly accurate description for a county that has just bagged provincial U-20, U-17 and now senior football titles in the space of under two weeks for the first time in its history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The celebrations will last for a few days before we do it all again when Tyrone come to town on Sunday week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/3848197_4_articleinline_94713_2954089.jpg\" alt=\"Roscommon supporters send out a message before Sunday afternoon's Connacht SFC final at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park.
