Frank Leboeuf believes that Liverpool will make a change in the dugout this summer, amid growing pressure on Arne Slot.<\/p>\n

The 47-year-old\u2019s position as the Reds\u2019 head coach feels increasingly tenuous after the mutinous scenes at Anfield on Saturday, with several journalists hinting<\/a> that whatever patience fans had remaining may have finally run out.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano claimed over the weekend<\/a> that FSG want to continue with the Dutchman, but one World Cup-winning defender believes that the hierarchy will soon call time on the incumbent\u2019s tenure and get in Xabi Alonso as his successor.<\/p>\n

Leboeuf expects Liverpool to appoint Alonso this summer<\/p>\n

Speaking on\u00a0ESPN FC<\/a>, Leboeuf stated:\u00a0\u201cSlot brought in new players, but no good tactics I would say, according to what he had, and we saw that team going down and down. I think that\u2019s somewhat the end of it. I don\u2019t see how he can turn it to a better team.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said that he had almost the recipe for next season. I don\u2019t know how he\u2019s going to do it, saying that he can prepare, but there is the World Cup so I don\u2019t see that coming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think the board will wait, especially because they have Xabi Alonso available. Why will they wait for Slot to find something different? I think they\u2019re going to get rid of him. I think they\u2019re going to get Xabi Alonso and all the fans will be very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Liverpool must be proactive while Alonso remains available<\/p>\n

The official line from multiple reliable sources would seem to be that FSG will stick with Slot for the time being, but the air of rebellion at Anfield on Saturday must\u2019ve been hard for the hierarchy to ignore.<\/p>\n

As Leboeuf said, the Dutchman\u2019s proclamations<\/a> that things will get better under his watch next season feel hollow after Kopites have been forced to endure a campaign rife with poor results and uninspiring football, with the draw against Chelsea being the latest addition to both categories.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein claimed last month<\/a> that Alonso isn\u2019t in FSG\u2019s thinking at present, but surely the Liverpool hierarchy must be tempted to at least sound out the Spaniard while he\u2019s still available, having been out of work since his sacking at Real Madrid four months ago.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s growing speculation over a potential move to Chelsea<\/a> for our former midfielder, with the Blues on the lookout for a permanent successor to Liam Rosenior, and the danger is that the Merseysiders could miss the boat if they\u2019re not proactive now.<\/p>\n
