HSE in partnership with Boots Ireland is hosting a free \u2018Let\u2019s talk about dementia and brain health\u2019 event in Leitrim<\/p>\n
The free brain health and dementia awareness event on May 20th at 6.30pm will take place at Boots, Carrick on Shannon Shopping Centre and is part of a nationwide series in partnership with the HSE\u2019s Dementia: Understand Together campaign.<\/p>\n
During the one-hour workshop healthcare professionals and people affected by dementia will reflect on dementia and the things people can do to look after their brain health. Participants will also hear of the practical steps people can all take to support those with dementia in the community.<\/p>\n
Boots has partnered with the Dementia: Understand Together campaign since 2016, working to make stores and communities more dementia inclusive through staff training and public events.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the initiative Fiona Foley, Senior Project Manager with the HSE\u2019s National Dementia Services, said: \u201cWe are grateful to Boots for organising these events for the local community, and to be invited to speak about these important topics. It shows their commitment to continuing the conversation around dementia and helping people to understand how to look after their brain health and reduce their personal risk of developing dementia.<\/p>\n
“The Dementia: Understand Together partnership with Boots is a great example of how pharmacy and retail organisations can help to build dementia inclusive communities, and work alongside the many local community champions who are making a real difference to the lives of people with dementia in Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n
