Western Brand has issued recalls for batches of its \u2018cook in bag\u2019 whole chickens due to the possible presence of salmonella.<\/p>\n

Specific batches of Aldi\u2019s \u2018Butchers Selection Sage & Onion Cook in Bag Whole Chicken\u2019, and Tesco\u2019s \u2018Tesco Roast in Bag Sage & Onion Stuffed Whole Irish Chicken\u2019 have been recalled.<\/p>\n

Batches of the Aldi product with a use-by date of May 13 and the batch number 26124-640 are subject to the recall.<\/p>\n

The notice also applies to batches of the Tesco product with a use-by date of May 13 and the batch number 26124-640, as well as those with a use-by date of May 14 and the batch number 26125-206.<\/p>\n

Retailers have been requested to \u201cremove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) advised consumers to not eat products from the implicated batches.<\/p>\n

According to the FSAI, symptoms of salmonella typically develop within 12 to 36 hours after infection, but this can range from six to 72 hours.<\/p>\n

Diarrhoea is the most common symptom, and other symptoms include fever, headaches and abdominal cramps.<\/p>\n

Illness typically lasts four to seven days, and symptoms can become severe enough to require hospital treatment.<\/p>\n

Severe illness from salmonella is more likely among the elderly, infants and those with impaired immune symptoms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stock image.
