Hollyoaks<\/a> revealed the outcome of Ste Hay and Rex Gallagher’s wedding, though it didn’t come without drama as tragedy struck. The couple have had issues leading up to their big day, but did they tie the knot?<\/p>\n

Ste and Rex had been in a happy, if tumultuous, relationship since getting together last year. Matters were confused, however, by the reintroduction of Ste’s former flame, James Nightingale, who was thought to be deceased.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Rex has been grieving the death of his mother, Grace Black, and began to cross-dress as he explored his identity. Despite Ste saying he was supportive of his fianc\u00e9, his actions paint a different picture. <\/p>\n

Ste’s attitudes towards Rex’s identity exploration, as well as his (secret) hook-up with James, has thrown doubt into the wedding, but the couple agreed to proceed with the wedding following the news that Diane Hutchinson was terminally ill.<\/p>\n

Ro, who has a crush on Rex, discovered that Ste had slept with James, and dropped a bombshell during Monday’s (11 May) episode<\/a> as he disclosed the news during the couple’s pre-wedding dinner.<\/p>\n

Today’s instalment of the Channel 4 soap<\/a> began with Ste attempting to explain himself, though Rex stated that he already knew about his affair. Rex explained that he blamed himself, as he felt Ste didn’t love him for who he truly was.<\/p>\n

He worried that he couldn’t be the man that Ste wanted him to be, and that Ste would never accept him. He said that his experimentation was a part of him and not just a “phase”, and admitted to having doubts over their compatibility.<\/p>\n

A forlorn Ste spoke with Leela, and said he had pushed Rex away. Despite noting that he didn’t deserve forgiveness, he hatched a plan \u2013 which required Leela’s assistance \u2013 to have the wedding ceremony take place.<\/p>\n

At the ceremony, Ste spoke with Ro, who apologised for his actions. They waited anxiously for Rex to arrive, and he eventually came in a suit that reflected his journey of self-exploration.<\/p>\n

After they exchanged some emotional vows and had a reception where Diane and Tony shared a dance, Diane headed upstairs as she fell ill. She put on a brave face, but broke down in tears as Leela left the room.<\/p>\n

Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming<\/a> premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.<\/p>\n
