Duran\u00a0Duran<\/a>\u00a0have\u00a0said they will not play at\u00a0Glastonbury<\/a>\u00a0unless they are one of the headliners.<\/p>\n

The new wave synthpop\u00a0band\u00a0have\u00a0sold over 100 million records, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,\u00a0and won Grammy and Brit Awards, but they have\u00a0never played at the Worthy Farm festival.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with\u00a0The Sunday Times<\/a>, frontman Simon Le Bon has discussed the reason that they have never played on the Pyramid Stage or on any of the other Glastonbury stages.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we want to \u2013 but not in a disco tent at 3pm, which is what we were offered,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want the right slot\u2026 We\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0be below anybody on the bill. So,\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0hold out because\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0a headline act \u2013\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0all there is to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, the band expressed similar sentiments when\u00a0speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0about the chances of them playing Glastonbury<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019d love to [do it] \u2013 we just need to get the right slot, that\u2019s all,\u201d Le Bon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn\u2019t playing the main stage and I think we\u2019d like to be doing that for sure,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m sure we\u2019re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duran Duran\u2019s last live dates in the UK were in October 2025, when they headlined major indoor arenas \u2013 Nottingham\u2019s Motorpoint Arena and Manchester\u2019s Co-op Live. They headlined the closing night of Latitude\u00a02024<\/a>,\u00a0and\u00a0also\u00a0played at\u00a0the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2026 is a fallow year for Glastonbury,\u00a0but it will return in 2027 from June 23 to 27<\/a>. Tickets will go on sale in November this\u00a0year\u00a0and music fans are\u00a0required\u00a0to\u00a0register before tickets go on sale.<\/p>\n

No names have been announced for the festival yet,\u00a0but Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift are among the bookies\u2019 favourites to top the bill<\/a>. There is also speculation that The Rolling Stones could return to Worthy Farm next year, with Keith Richards recently hinting that they will be hitting the road in 2027<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duran Duran released their new single \u2018Free To Love\u2019 in April<\/a>, reuniting them with Chic<\/a>\u2019s Nile Rodgers<\/a>, with whom they have worked since the chart-topping \u2018The Reflex\u2019 in 1984.
