Tommy Fleming’s wife Tina has told how they split seven months ago<\/a> – thrusting the singer back into the headlines where he has often spoken candidly about his life.<\/p>\n

Tommy has had many ups and downs and told in 2022 how he was eyeing up retirement and set a timeline which – as things have transpired – would be next year.<\/p>\n

But instead of eyeing up retirement, Tommy is dealing with the aftermath of the marriage split. The couple, who wed in 2006 after meeting at a mutual friend’s funeral in 2002, confirmed they split seven months ago. “I confirm that our marriage has ended, and we have been separated since October 2025,” Tina said in a statement to the Sunday Independent.”<\/p>\n

In an interview in 2022, Tommy gave an insight into how he deals with being in the public eye – and with critics who can be ‘horrible’.<\/p>\n

He said he doesn\u2019t feel the pressure of being in the public eye, saying: \u201cThe reason I don\u2019t is because the people that criticise are always the ones that need to change, not the person they\u2019re criticising.\u201d<\/p>\n

He reflected on his long and successful career, explaining that he was \u201cconstantly\u201d told to change things.<\/p>\n

Tommy said: \u201cI was told that country and western was popular, so I needed to do it. At the end of the day, you got criticised for following your own path because nobody can put a title on it.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody can call me a folk singer or a country<\/a> and western singer. I\u2019m just a singer who sings good songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou had that feeling of not being good enough. You would do a performance and the exact words were, \u2018That was shite\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou had to put up with that horribleness. There was no encouragement, just negativity all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI desperately keep trying to stay in shape. I desperately try to hold onto whatever vigour of youth I had.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe because I\u2019m in the public eye, but I wouldn\u2019t be one to let myself go. I think we all have those issues with ageing.\u201d<\/p>\n
