Nicola Coughlan is expected to reprise her role in fantasy film The Magic Faraway Tree, as it’s just been confirmed two sequels are in the works. The Bridgerton star is part of the main cast of the movie, an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s book series of the same name that was released in March in UK cinemas.<\/p>\n

Screen International<\/a> reported that two more films are in development from Neal Street Productions and Elysian Film Group, with screenwriter Simon Farnaby and director Ben Gregor returning.<\/p>\n

The main cast, also including Claire Foy, Andrew Garfield and Rebecca Ferguson, are expected to come back on the upcoming films. Digital Spy has reached out to Neal Street Productions for additional comment. <\/p>\n

The film, which we branded an “ideal family watch” in our three-star review<\/a>, follows three siblings who move to the countryside with their parents, played by Foy and Garfield, and discover a realm of magical kingdoms. <\/p>\n

Coughlan plays fairy Silky, with Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning as Dame Washalot and Ferguson as Dame Snap.<\/p>\n

“We’re trying to work out if it makes sense to shoot two and three [of The Magic Faraway Tree series] together,” Neal Street’s Pippa Harris told Screen International. <\/p>\n

Harris, who is now in production on Sony’s four The Beatles films, added: “Currently, shooting four films at once, the idea of two doesn’t frighten me.”<\/p>\n

It appears that the producers are considering a 2027 shoot and are keen to get both sequels going. “The quicker we can get going, the better,” Harris said. <\/p>\n

Coughlan recently confirmed she would appear in a reduced role<\/a> in the fifth season of Netflix’s Bridgerton. The new instalment will focus on the love story between Francesca and Michaela as well as on the new identity of Lady Whistledown after Coughlan’s Penelope gave up the mantle to pursue other literary endeavours.<\/p>\n
