\n\tCannes<\/a> Boss Thierry Fr\u00e9maux presented 2x Oscar nominee John Travolta<\/a> with a surprise honorary Palme d\u2019or before the world premiere of the actor\u2019s feature directorial debut Propeller One-Way Night Coach.<\/p>\n

\n\tFr\u00e9maux\u00a0makes this kind of magic happen for legends at the Cannes Film Festival<\/a>. Sometimes \u2013surprise\u2013 there\u2019s a Palme d\u2019or that\u2019s handed out. Fr\u00e9maux\u00a0did this before the Cannes premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, bestowing a Palme to Tom Cruise. <\/p>\n

\n\tTravolta bowing to a standing ovation, called the prize \u201can honour beyond the Oscars.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBefore the film hit the screen and before handing Travolta his award, Fr\u00e9maux\u00a0said \u201cwe think that you\u2019re one of the greatest actors\u2026when I say that what do you think you are inside the story of cinema?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOh, that\u2019s a loaded question,\u201d said Travolta, \u201cI\u2019m just a voyeur of observation of life. That\u2019s what I\u2019ve done since I was a little boy. What you\u2019ll see in the movie is completely my perspective on what I witnessed. People go through what they look like, what they sounded like, what they felt, and then I put music to these images, and it\u2019s the most personal thing I\u2019ve ever done, this movie you\u2019re about to see.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter a sizzle reel of Travolta\u2019s career was shown, Fr\u00e9maux asked the Pulp Fiction actor about life intervening in his career, to which he responded, \u201cI was thinking how wonderful you are to have done that for me. I know you don\u2019t have time, and you took the time to put that together for me.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tTearing, Travolta added about the reel, \u201cYou see your whole life before you like I did in this. I feel a mixture of things, every image has memory and it\u2019s very emotional. And the soundtrack that goes with all those memories. I\u2019ve been doing film most of my life. Eighty-five percent of my life, so it was really nice to see that.\u201d<\/p>\n
