{"id":451219,"date":"2026-05-16T02:07:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T02:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/451219\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T02:07:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T02:07:11","slug":"first-look-main-cast-and-cork-filmmaker-confirmed-for-boys-of-tommen-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/451219\/","title":{"rendered":"First look: Main cast and Cork filmmaker confirmed for Boys of Tommen series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Initial casting has been revealed for the adaptation of Cork author Chloe Walsh\u2019s  Boys of Tommen series with Prime Video, with newcomers claiming the leading roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n             Prime Video confirms that after a \u201cwidespread search\u201d, Nancy Surridge has landed the role of Shannon Lynch, while Conor S\u00e1nchez will bring Johnny Kavanagh, the golden boy of Tommen, to life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">James O&#8217;Donoghue will take on the role of the troubled but loyal Joey Lynch, and Sophie McGibbon stars as the fiercely confident Aoife Molloy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n             Boys of Tommen\u00a0follows the love story of Johnny Kavanagh, the star rugby player on the verge of a pro career, and Shannon Lynch, the talented but painfully shy new girl at the prestigious private school of Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland. Both teenagers are hiding secrets and through their secret and highly charged connection, the two teens from opposite worlds battle against the odds and find a way to save each other.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/5082225_2_articleinlinemobile_Nancy_20Surridge_20_Shannon_20Lynch_20_26_20Conor_20Sanchez_20_Johnny_.jpeg\" alt=\"Nancy Surridge and Conor Sanchez\" title=\"Nancy Surridge and Conor Sanchez\" class=\"card-img\"\/>Nancy Surridge and Conor Sanchez<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The romantic drama series will be adapted for the screen by the producers of\u00a0\u00a0 The Summer I Turned Pretty, One Day\u00a0and  Twilight.\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">VMA-nominated Brendan Canty, who recently directed  <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/lifestyle\/artsandculture\/arid-41692203.html\">Christy<\/a>, will direct the series, while Ingrid Goodwin joins as series producer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cAs someone who grew up in Cork, where these stories are set, this project feels incredibly personal to me,\u201d Canty said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cPoppy has done an amazing job adapting Chloe\u2019s beloved books, and the way both writers capture young people\u2019s lives with such empathy, tenderness and honesty feels truly extraordinary to me.\u00a0To do justice to the world they\u2019ve created, we knew that\u00a0finding the right cast was going to be everything.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Canty added they received over 3000 casting suggestions from across the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cFrom the moment Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie walked into the room, it was clear we\u2019d found something\u00a0beyond\u00a0special.
