Ireland could soon be basking in glorious sunshine and highs of 25C as a leading meteorologist has revealed that a spell of warm and sunny weather<\/a> is just around the corner.<\/p>\n The country has endured some rather damp and dull conditions in recent days, with spells of rain and cooler temperatures dominating this week.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, the wet weather is set to continue this weekend, with ‘persistent rain’ set to develop in the west and move eastwards across the country through the morning and afternoon, according to Met Eireann<\/a>.<\/p>\n ‘Heavy and persistent’ showers are forecast for Sunday, particularly during the late afternoon and evening, with thunderstorms expected in some areas and temperatures struggling to climb to 13C.<\/p>\n Recent weather maps show a surge in temperatures on Thursday and Friday <\/p>\n The unsettled weather will continue into the early parts of next week before conditions are set to take a dramatic turn, with a weather expert revealing that temperatures will surge from Thursday onwards, with the thermometer tipped to climb to a balmy 25C.<\/p>\n According to Cathal Nolan, climate scientist and founder of Ireland’s Weather Channel, after a wet start to the week, the warm and sunny spell will get underway on Thursday as high pressure builds, with next weekend set to be a scorcher.<\/p>\n The good weather looks set to stick around, with Catal revealing that the warm and sunny spell will continue until the end of the month and possibly into early June.<\/p>\n Issuing the glorious forecast in a video message to his followers, Cathal said: “We are set up for a pretty unsettled start for next week.<\/p>\n “Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – they are all pretty unsettled days across the country.<\/p>\n “More cloud about and a chance of rain or heavy showers on each of those days and fresher southwesterly winds.<\/p>\n “The good news is that from Thursday and Friday of next week onwards, it is expected that are weather will settle down.<\/p>\n “We will see temperatures on the rise, getting up towards the 20sC, even the early-20sC or mid-20C20s possible by the end of next weekend as high pressure looks set to build in.<\/p>\n “That looks set to see us out for the month of May, perhaps even continuing on into June, which has been heralded as a drier than average month with warmer temperatures by the longer-range model, so fingers crossed that is the case.”<\/p>\n![\"Recent](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/0_HIVylS2WoAAlgnq-1.jpg\")
